Lagbaja, Femi Kuti, Others For World Cup Entertainment Village




As the 2010 World Cup draws nearer, Infinity Events, South Africa and Heartlink Events, Nigeria, are putting finishing touches to the Nigeria Sports and Entertainment Village (NISEV) that is being set up in South Africa by June.

Both events companies were given the franchise to market and organise a world-class village for the World Cup by the Nigeria High Commission, South Africa.

According to Kemi Otegbade, head consultant of Heartlink Events, Nigeria, renowned international jazz artiste, Hugh Masekela and friends have confirmed their participation on the International Jazz concert set to take place during the opening ceremonies.

Leading Nigerian jazz artistes also being considered are Femi Kuti, Lagbaja, Kunle Ayo, Mike Aremu to headline some of the concerts that will hold in the village for the period of the World Cup.

A standard IT centre and Media Village will be carved out for real life, on-line information dissemination.

“NISEV has been strategically located to be easily accessible to the various venues where Nigeria will play to give visitors from home opportunity to have homely feeling even while away from home.

Already, some Nigerians in South Africa are being partnered to prepare Nigerian dishes for those who will come for the concerts and those who might not get into the stadia to see some of the matches.

“The Nigeria Sports and Entertainment Village is a new way of rebranding Nigerian image through sports achievement.

It is a place where all aspects of operations will converge to heighten sports entertainment experience,” she said.
